CONTRA COSTA JAIL SYSTEM

The custody facilities for Contra Costa County are made up primarily of four core jails.  In addition, to these major jails, the county has several other short-term smaller detention facilities to service individual communities.

Martinez Detention Facility (M.D.F.)  is located at 1000 Ward St., Martinez, CA  94553.   The inmate information line 925-646-4495 and is manned 24 hours a day. This facility opened in 1981 and is a state-of-the-art facility. This jail’s purpose is to detain sentenced and pre-sentenced detainees that don’t quality for less restrictive facilities.

Custody Alternative Facility is located at 1011 Las Juntas, Martinez, CA  94553.  This facility is utilized as an alternative to incarceration at a traditional jail.  If an individual is unable to adhere to the restrictions of this program, they are often sentenced to more traditional detention facilities.  Some of the alternatives to custody include the: 1) Work Alternative Program; 2) Home Detainment Program; and 3) Parole.

West County Detention Facility is located at 5555 Giant Highway Richmond, Richmond, CA 94806.  The 24 hour information line for this facility is 510-262-4200.  This jail will house about 1,200 inmates.  This is a newer facility that includes all of the latest technological advancements. Most of the inmates are low-medium security.
 
Marsh Creek Detention Facility  is located at 12000 Marsh Creek Rd., Clayton, CA 94517.  The General Information line is (925) 646-5700.  This is a minimum-security facility that houses roughly 275 inmates.
