REDWOOD CITY, Calif.- "It is hereby ordered that . . . for the offense of the murder of Laci Peterson, and murder of Conner Peterson . . . that the defendant Scott Lee Peterson shall be put to death".
Those words from San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Alfed A. Delucchi, bring to an end, the trial and sentencing of convicted murderer Scott Peterson.
The judge denied a defense request for a new trial, but allowed family members of Laci Peterson to speak.
Sharron Rocha, Laci's mother lashed out at Scott. "You decided to throw Laci and Conner away, dispose of them like they were just a piece of garbage. You were wrong; dead wrong. An evil murderer," she said. "The fact that you no longer wanted Laci did not give you the right to murder her. She was my daughter . . . I trusted you", Rocha said. "You betrayed everybody".
Peterson-32, showed no emotion during the sentencing phase refered to as "a circus", by Laci's mother, Sharron.
Scott Peterson was sentenced in November, 2004, of 1st-degree murder in the killing of his wife, and 2nd-degree murder for the slaying of her fetus. One month later, a jury sentenced him to death.
So there you have it. The court is satisfied beyond a reasonable doubt that Scott should die. How do you feel about the outcome of the Peterson sentencing? |
