LOS ANGELES COUNTY INFORMATION
Los Angeles County is in California and is the most populated county in the United States. The county seat is the City of Los Angeles.
The county has 88 incorporated cities and numerous unincorporated areas. The coastal area of the county is somewhat urbanized, though there is a large expanse of less populated desert in the Santa Clarita Valley.
In the middle of the large desert areas and the urbanized portions is the Angeles National Forest. All of Los Angeles County, north to about the center of the county, is heavily developed.
This county has most of the main cities around the Greater Los Angeles Area, and is the most powerful of the counties that make up the area.
The county's population is larger than the individual populations of 42 states. That's over 25% of all California residents.
The United States Conference of Mayors says, if Los Angeles County were a country, it would have a GDP in the top twenty of the largest countries on Earth.
CELEBRITY CRIMES AND COURTS
Not like the largest city in the United States, New York City, all of the city of Los Angeles and most of its suburbs are in one county. Because of this, both the county superior court and the federal district court are the busiest courts of their type in the nation.
Many celebrities like O.J. Simpson and Paris Hilton have been seen in Los Angeles courts. In 2003, the television show Extra found itself running so many reports on the legal problems of LA celebrities that they spun them off into a separate tv show called Celebrity Justice.
