Crescent City is located on Hwy 101 on the Northern California coast about 20 miles south of the Oregon border. The area offers an abundance of outdoor recreational activities utilizing the proximity of the Pacific Ocean, the Smith River and Klamath River, Redwood National and State Parks, and the Smith River National Recreation Area.

Crescent City is rich in history and beauty. This seaside community is often overlooked as a destination place. It's the perfect place to come and leave behind your stress. Enjoy a relaxing vacation and visit the local museums, lighthouses, beaches, events, farmers market, shopping, dining and casinos. Accomodations are available to suit every taste, from RV'ers and campers, to those wanting affordable quality lodging. Come and bring the family for a weekend filled with fun for everyone.

Discovery of gold along the Sacramento and Trinity Rivers in the mid-1800’s drew many thousands to northern California. The need for a supply route to remote mining camps initiated a spurt of exploration that motivated settlement of Humboldt and Del Norte counties.

Wildlife of the parks is both abundant and varied including such animals as black bear, deer, coyote, bobcat, mountain lion, skunks, fox, beaver, river otter, squirrels, chipmunks and many others. Some of the rare or uncommon examples of bird life identified include the bald eagle, spotted owl, pileated woodpecker and marbled murrelet. The Smith River and Mill Creek are especially known for the king salmon and steelhead trout runs in the fall and winter. Mill Creek is a spawning ground for these fish.
